Since 1986, Kids at Play (KAP) has provided quality and affordable care to children at Mill Road Elementary in Red Hook, NY. In doing so, our program enables parents to work, continue their education or pursue other interests.

The KAP program is under the direction of Melissa Smith, Program Director.  A voluntary Board of Directors provides support and assistance.  The program offers structured and unstructured activities including arts and crafts, indoor as well as outdoor games, cooking projects, nature study, puzzles, computer time and homework time.

The children in our care are provided with a safe and relaxed environment in which to enjoy a variety of activities. Much of the creative inspiration for these activities comes from the children themselves, whose ideas and preferences are always well regarded by the staff, who continuously strive to keep the program activities flexible and appealing.

As an organization, we function independently of the public school system, yet we maintain close, supportive ties with the Mill Road staff. This unique relationship affords us the opportunity to interact effectively between parents and school personnel whenever special needs circumstances exist.

We offer an atmosphere that fosters both learning and creativity outside of the classroom through a variety of activities including board games, arts and crafts, light sports, and learning oriented computer games.
